Nothing Comes Between Me and My Calvins

Well, maybe apart from a little nude coloured lingerie.

I bought this Calvin Klein dress from Macy’s online. I love its minimalism and it’s made of cotton with a little stretch. It’s great for a warm day like today.

Cornering slowly

One of the many things that I love about daily bicycling is that it gets you to your destination quickly. I drop my kids off at childcare and school. It would be an interminable walk for both drop-offs with not enough parking at either location. And then there is the traffic.  Going crosstown on Liverpool Street, Market Street, or Bridge Street in the CBD can be a nightmare by car.   Congestion on the Sydney Harbour Bridge results in gridlock throughout the entire city. On a bicycle, when the lights are red and the cars have stopped, it’s possible to ride safely between them.  The corner of Oxford and College Streets is another place with severe congestion during peak hour.  As cyclists, we are allowed to “overtake on the left of stopped and slow moving vehicles.” Consequently, I ride to the head of the queue of cars when they have stopped at the lights. It gets me home faster to meet our nanny and to tuck my kids into bed. (Section 9)

And there are some places that aren’t accessible by car. One of my favourite restaurants in Sydney, China Lane, is in one of these, Angel Place. Angel Place is off Pitt Street, a heavily trafficked road.

Sharing the cobblestones with pedestrians.

City Recital Hall also resides on Angel Place, where I have been many times for classical music concerts.  China Lane is just around the corner.

City Recital Hall,  just behind me, is where I last saw Stephen Hough.

A birdcage installation augments the space above the cobblestone alleyway. You can hear recorded calls of native birds in the area, some of which are extinct and some still alive but outside the city. When day passes to evening, nocturnal calls can be heard.

An oasis of calm in the middle of the city.

And of course, they can be heard because there are no cars.

Today’s ensemble: Calvin Klein dress, Geox heels, Yakkay helmet, Linus Eleanor handbag, Cartier Santos, Dior Sunglasses, Serfas gloves.

Happy Cycling!
